This is the Superior 1;1200 scale USS New Jersey 1968 (A140). Due to the heavy fighting in Vietnam, the US Navy withdrew this battleship from the Reserve Fleet in September 1967 and outfitted her for renewed service with the fleet. Her purpose was to bombard coastal areas of Vietnam where the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese army were operating. After spending 120 days on the gun line and one year in commission, she was returned to the Reserve Fleet by President Richard Nixon as a conciliatory gesture to the North Vietnamese delegation at the Paris Peace talks.
